The purpose of CPR Centers Worldwide is to train non-English
speakers in isolated areas of developing countries in the life-saving techniques of CPR and
first aid. In essence, our goal is to create walking first aid kits in areas where
emergency care response systems are non-existent, and access to proper first aid materials is
limited. While our courses focus on cardiovascular resuscitation and basic first aid, they are
tailored to the interests of the audience – for example, courses taking place in equatorial
countries will deter slightly from the primary syllabus in order to focus on the concepts of
dehydration and heat strokes; courses in sub-Saharan Africa address the high HIV positive
population through an AIDS awareness component. Because knowledge of the English language
tends to be isolated to urban areas of developing nations, the main strength of our program is
in providing training materials in the local language. We believe that the lack of access to
life-saving information due to the language barrier cannot account for a life lost. Our goal
is to create sustainable centers with a full-time instructor, tutorial videos, translated
materials, and proper practice dummies and situational examples, to ensure that anyone can
become a walking first aid kit.
